Welcome to the show. It’s totally old-school TPS today. We’re into the weeds on a simple yet absolutely fundamental topic… perhaps THE topic of ALL topics, that is the relationship of gain, volume and headroom. And when we say ‘gain’, we mean the transition from clean sounds to overdrive.

We start with one overdrive pedal. And you can do a whole lot with that, if you think about it a bit differently. But then we add a volume pedal… and then another overdrive. OMG, soooo many tones!

A quick note on passive volume pedals…
Around 24 minutes we start talking about volume pedals. We don’t say it explicitly - it’s one of those annoying things we take for granted, sorry - but passive volume pedals such as this only attenuate volume. That’s to say it only turns the volume DOWN from what you already have.
